Basic and expert knowledge for beginners and advanced users. On 4 September at 7 pm I searched the internet for documentation that would allow me to learn EIB / KNX to program my newly planned home by myself. My previous knowledge was a basic electrical understanding as a trained electrician. However, I had no previous knowledge or experience with EIB / KNX. On the internet I came across the KNX programming made easy e-book, and I ordered it directly only because of the description, the PDF format and the attractive price. Very quickly, I was able to understand the structure of the book presented and, based on the additional tutorials posted on YouTube by the author, I could easily understand the project procedures. What is more, the linking and integration of the components is illustrated by means of pictures, descriptions, etc. After about 2-3 hours I was able to design the basic framework for my new building. But now I was faced with the problem that I could not find any information about a specific manufacturer of certain components and how to transfer them to the system. Since the order could not be completed successfully while ordering online (due to my anti-virus program), I had already contacted the author at 7:10 pm and was surprised to receive a reply by 7:30 pm. Since I could not continue programming without the information I mentioned above, I decided to simply ask the author if and how I could solve this manufacturer issue. I asked this at 9:15 pm by e-mail. I was even more surprised to receive a reply by 9:33 pm, in which he put me in the right track with a few keywords and I could at least continue programming. The only issue to solve now was the transferring of the components. So once more I reached out to the author for help, who kindly sent me the next morning a short private tutorial in the form of a video clip with audio comments which helped me get all my remaining questions answered! The e-book itself is based on competence and knowledge and can only be highly recommended for every beginner. However, the exceptional support by Mr Schöchlin is what sets it apart from others. The friendly, quick and uncomplicated support provided was just great!

I first bought this book and went through everything for a while (only theoretically). After a while, I came up with the idea to equip my house, which I planned to build in the near future, with KNX. With the help of this book, I was able to program the entire house by myself. From lighting control to visualisation, I was able to program everything on my own. Then you realise how much such a book pays off, if you spend only a few hundred euros and buy a book instead of hiring a programmer who then asks for several thousand euros. I thank the author for his efforts and hope that he brings out some more books on the topic (e.g. X1).
